About

Hi, I’m Katelyn Mashburn, a PR graduate from the University of Oregon, who recently fulfilled my passion for PR and travel by working at Mulberry MC in London! Despite my fierce last name, I’m actually a quite pleasant  person—the only thing that I mash and burn are potatoes, which is why my forte is public relations and not cooking.

From my international experience I caught the travel bug, which led me to secure a year-long working visa in Ireland starting in March 2011. I’m hoping to obtain a PR job at an innovative PR agency in Dublin.

Although my public relations experience varies, my focus and interest have always been in building trust and communication among all stakeholders. Through this blog I aim to connect with others interested in public relations by expressing my views about current events and sharing my PR experiences.

Congratulations on creating an excellent on line presence to tell us more about yourself and your capabilities. I am impressed.

In answer to your twitter question about the advice I would provide I can provide it in one word “collaborate”. I look at the public relations and crisis communication you do as part of a broader emergency management and business continuity program which any reputable organization should have. When evaluating these programs many of the shortcomings can be traced to a failure of the stakeholders to collaborate with each other on common goals. When I look back on my own career many of my best successes have been where I shared my ideas with others and we collaborated to achieve success.

I’ll follow your blog and hope to learn from you as you work with and learn from others. All the best.
